Wrought Iron Castle Rack, Late XVII Eme Period, Height 2m65 flag

Object description :

"Wrought Iron Castle Rack, Late XVII Eme Period, Height 2m65"
Rare castle rack in wrought iron, manufacture from the end of the 17th century. Our rack, called "chain" and "crocs", is typical of the racks of the south of the Loire (the toothed racks, more common, being from the North of the Loire), it comes from a castle located in the Perigord Noir. These racks were often found in the castles of the Cathar country. They were still hung on a bar itself sealed in the chimney. The hooks could be used to hang sausages to dry them but also made it possible to raise cauldrons and pots in order to raise them and thus keep them away from the fire. Magnificent ironwork. It is in a very good state of preservation and, a rare thing, perfectly complete. Magnificent object, rare in its proportions (2m65 high) and its condition. Diverted from its use, this rack could be used to suspend a large castle chandelier under significant ceiling heights. Shipping costs for metropolitan France 35 euros, other destinations contact us.
