Pair Large Antique Thai Gilt Bronze Disciples Of Buddha. Buddhist Temple. Votive. Prayer.

The two disciples are represented with joined hands in the gesture of adoration. Both performing the Anjali Mudra these gilt lacquered bronze kneeling monks are the first two followers of Buddha, Maudgalayayana et Shariputra.
They are clothed in the traditional monastic robe, which strips the right shoulder and which falls in a stole on the front and back.
Raised on bespoke wooden stands.

Period - 19th century OR BEFORE

Condition - Good condition -Normal wear comensurate with age. One has a crack in the front of the base.

Measure -Bronzes only 63cm height. 40cm depth. width 28 cm.
Wood bases 45.5cm height. 44cm depth. width 32 cm.

Raised on bespoke wooden stands.
