"Pair Of Large Athenian Shaped Casseroles Napoleon III Period XIX"
Pair of large Athenian-shaped casseroles in red Languedoc marble and gilded bronze Louis XVI Style from Napoleon III XIXth. The lid is decorated with large acanthus leaves, richly chiseled and surmounted by a pine cone in gilded bronze. The ovoid-shaped vase, adorned with a gilt bronze pine cone at its base, surrounded by a frieze of finely chiseled foliage and adorned with garlands of flowers, is suspended by three gilt bronze feet chiseled with interlacing, surmounted rams' heads with horns rolled inward, ending in hooves. The feet are connected by a chiseled gilded bronze ring acting as a spacer. Our casseroles are based on a tripod base in red Languedoc marble with a mascaron with a stylized gilt bronze flower in the center. Old marble restoration. Original double patina mercury gilding cleaned by our workshop in very good condition. Quality work from the Napoleon III period, both in the finesse of the carving of the bronzes and in the choice of marble and its realization
