Attributed to Robert LEFÈVRE (1755-1830) Hebe pouring nectar to Jupiter Oil on canvas Early 19th Century Signature in pencil, lower left: Rt Lefèvre fecit Good condition, re-lined In a gilded stucco frame in condition Canvas dimensions: 36 x 29 , 5 cm dimensions with frame: 49 x 41 cm _ Robert LEFEVRE (1750-1830) French painter from Bayeux He began his career in the Caen region where he painted portraits and shop signs. He left for Paris and entered the Jean Baptiste Regnault studio. He met his first success at the Salon of 1791. Portrait painter in vogue during the Empire, he obtained the title of court painter. Much appreciated, it retains its status despite the changes of regime and continues to receive official orders.
