BARNOIN Henri Alphonse
Born in 1882 in Paris
Died in 1935
Painter of compositions with characters, landscapes, urban landscapes, seascapes, pastellist, postimpressionist.
He was a pupil of A de Richemont, Luc-Olivier Merson, but it is from his second master Emile Dameron that he got his taste for anecdotal landscapes that he animates with peasant crowds, fishermen and boats, rocky coasts and processions, landscapes, seascapes and scenes of Breton life. It is the whole repertoire of folklore Brittany that feeds his work endowed with a well-assured technique that is the faithful mirror of the painter's fervor for Breton daily life. Exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1909, he received an honorable mention in 1909, a silver mention in 1921, became a member, received a gold medal in 1935 and was classified out of competition in 1939. Painter of landscapes, he was prizewinner of the friendly association of the French landscapers.
