Superb and very large pair of Louis XVI style gilt bronze castle wall lights. Signed Raingo, an illustrious family of bronze watchmakers under Napoleon III. Very finely and deeply chiseled model. Platinum quiver of arrows with asparagus and pomegranate tips in the lower part, and an important Louis XVI bow ribbon pediment. 5 sconces on each wall light carried by richly crafted acanthus leaves. Fluted cups and binets. Drilling for electricity. Signed Raingo on the back. A light arm is slightly twisted and moves a little (slit in the bronze) The original gilding is very shiny and brilliant but has a few spots in places. Very heavy wall lights (over 10kg each). We are in the presence of an example of the most beautiful creations of the French decorative arts under the Second Empire. Napoleon III period around 1850-1860.
