Rectangular pendant in 18 karat gold. Restoration period, hallmark of Paris 1819-1838. It hinged on an openwork grid decorated with flowery foliage. At the time, it contained a small sponge soaked in ammonia salts, hence the name Viniagrette. Subsequently, the ladies deposited perfumes there to escape the bad ambient odors of the streets.
