French school from the beginning of the 19th century, portrait of an officer, infantry commander (on the left shoulder, an epaulette like the colonel and on the right shoulder a back epaulette), decorated with the Legion of Honor and the cross of Saint Louis. Oil on canvas, Restoration period, 1830s The painting is identified on the back as representing Commander Jacques Albarède, 1793-1835, commanding the Griffon fort in Besançon. Beautiful piece to complete a collection of portraits or decor from the early 19th century. It is presented in its rich (original) frame in wood and stucco gilded with gold leaf. Good general condition, painting on its original canvas, cleaned and without repainting. Frame with its original gilding cleaned, well preserved with some wear.
