Serbian Powder Flask flag

Object description :

"Serbian Powder Flask"
Beautiful and unusual powder flask.
To be prudent, I dated it from the beginning of the XIXth century, but it is very possible that it is older, the XVIIIth century is probable.
This powder was was collected in Serbia, which seems to agree with the decorative patterns, since the circular metal inlays correspond to what we find on the handles of some daggers from the Sarajevo region, and the head of bird of prey is a motif also found in Serbian art.
The body of this powder flask is made of a dark horn which is not a cow horn.
The whole item is worked in an elegant way.
The bottom of the flask is closed by a horn plate underlined with two brass fillets, and at the opposite end, at the level of the opening, the flask becomes thinner to represent a muzzle of a fantastic animal, surmounted by a stylized bird of prey's head (possibly a hawk)
Many small metal circles in brass and copper decorate this part.
A steel ring allows the flask to be suspended from the belt.
Note two small old repairs made by means of very fine metal wire, at the level of one of the attachments of the bird's head, and under the "throat" of the fabulous animal
These small repairs could be completely hidden by a small restoration , but as they are old and reflect the life of the object, I have chosen to keep them as they are.
Uncommon object, beautiful patina
