Powder Horn From Hungary Or Romania flag

Object description :

"Powder Horn From Hungary Or Romania"
Powder horn of unusual type, collected in Hungary, near Romania.
The body of this powder flask is made of natural horn.
The bottom of the horn is closed by a hemispherical part in brass, with grooves and decoration of cabochons
The other end is covered with fluted brass, which goes to the beak of the horn.
Four cabochons decorate the lower part of this brass part.
A part covered with copper follows on from the brass part.
The stopper is screwed onto the opening, unlike powder flasks from North Africa which do not have a screw on their stopper.
On the other hand, in the case of flasks from North Africa, the decor is generally very typical, and often more crude.
This powder flask is therefore to be linked to the culture of Central Europe.
Probably it was intended for hunting.
Although collected in Hungary, it is very possible that it is from Romanian origin.
