Léopold Lévy (1882, Paris - 1966, Kremlin-Bicêtre) Plain landscape Oil On Cardboard 22.5 x 26.5 cm Signed lower left Léopold Lévy is a French artist. He regularly attends the Louvre. He met the sculptor Charles Despiau and the painter Georges Linaret. Lévy makes cartoons for several magazines. He is known in particular for his etchings. He exhibited for the first time at the Salon des Indépendants in 1900. He was mobilized during the First World War. At the end of the war, he left to visit Italy and Provence where he met Jean Dufy, Jean Marchand, Georges Braque and André Derain. From 1927, he lived between Aix-en-Provence and Paris. Between 1936 and 1949, he left for Istanbul, where he headed the painting department of the Fine Arts. He ended his life between Provence and Paris.
