Ancient Persian Mechkabad Rug, Iran, 140 Cm X 219 Cm, Hand-knotted Wool, Late 19th Century

Splendid old carpet from the end of the 19th century called Mechkabad, and measuring 140 cm wide for a length of 219 cm.
The carpet is in very good collectable condition, the wool is finely tight, soft and of good quality.
These rugs originate from the village of the same name.
They were called Mahal and then Sarouk-mahal, because they come from the region of Mahallat.
The city of Mechkabad, very important in the nineteenth century, a great center of carpet production, is not even mentioned on maps today, neglected by its inhabitants, only ruins remain that can be seen.
take the road from Arak to Qom, about 25 kms from Arak on the right.
A midnight blue medallion placed on a red field, cut in old pink on the sides and at the angles are the design that we find on these rugs, while using other colors, often blue and red.
These pieces are always abundantly flowered and the flower design of the medallion is often found in the spandrels.
Unfortunately many people confuse them with other types of rugs and sources.
Our model is in very good condition for its age, is a beautiful collector's rug, it has the characteristics described above.
Fringes and edges are in good original condition.
This rug has been professionally cleaned and environmentally friendly.
