"Little Houses Andre Lhote"
Painter born in Bordeaux in 1885 died in Paris in 1962. After studying sculpture in Bordeaux, André Lhote decided to become a painter and in 1907 won the capital. He immediately participated in the Salon des Indépendants and the Salon d'Automne, he founded in 1922 a school in Montparnasse where Tamara de Lempicka William Klein or Henri Cartier Bresson would study. In 1926 he bought a house in Mirmande in the Drome Provençale where many artists will find refuge during the war. Historical monuments and picturesque villages have been an inexhaustible source of inspiration. Our watercolor was certainly made during this period, it is signed lower right .20
