In very good condition, this superb vase in cinnabar lacquer is highlighted on an exotic wood base. Delicately openwork and sculpted in medium relief, this lacquer features characters in a mountain background better known under the Chinese name of shanshui, a genre appreciated by artists and connoisseurs of Asian art. The intricately carved lid is decorated with a motif of lotus flower and prunus flowers. Very fine collector's item.
