"Hubert Roux: Commode In Marquetry From Transition Period - Stamped"
Beautiful chest of drawers from the Transition Louis XV Louis XVI period in marquetry, Parisian work veneered with satin in butterfly wings in frames of Greek nets in green tinted boxwood and amaranth and rosewood. Beautiful gilded bronze trim with original fine gold. It opens with 5 drawers: 2 large at the bottom, 3 small under the belt, simulating only one. Sainte Anne gray molded marble. It bears the stamp of Hubert Roux, circa 1777-1780.

Hubert Roux, master in 1777 is a Parisian cabinetmaker. He worked very actively until 1806. Established rue Saint-Nicolas before the Revolution, he then lived in rue Saint-Antoine. He produced, among other works, many cylinder offices. We sold two years ago a small chest of drawers stamped by his father Louis Roux, which was probably a collaboration between father and son. This one bears the stamp of Hubert, it therefore dates after obtaining his master's degree in 1777, but the beginning of his career before 1780. Beautiful model, its proportions are perfect, without any lack of taste.

Excellent condition, our chest of drawers comes from the cabinetmaker with a real buffer varnish. Gilding fine gold bronzes well preserved with slight wear. traces of old restorations.
