France or Germany, 1930s / 1950s, very pretty white ceramic statue representing a loot in the spirit of China. The male figure is seated in a posture that may resemble that of Buddha. His plumpness and his good nature reminds one of a Putai or god of happiness. Two hidden holes at the top of the head and behind at the base indicate that this piece was originally a lamp base. It can be rehabilitated as a light or retain its current appearance as a statue; both options are aesthetically flawless. Part in good condition except for slight normal wear and tear. No shock or crack. Height 29 cm.
