Beautiful and luminous Greek icon representing the Dormition (Assumption) of the Mother of God.
It dates from the second half of the 18th century (around 1780-1800).
The icon is painted with tempera in warm tones and is richly enhanced with gold leaves.
Very good original state of conservation without restoration with a splendid patina.
The Dormition of the Virgin is celebrated by the Eastern and Western Christian churches on August 15th.
