""selfish" Masterpiece Of A 19th Century Wheelwright"
Anonymous and complex work of a wheelwright from the 19th century, this achievement is an example of talent ... and modesty when you devote so much care to making a wheelbarrow like this! In principle, the masterpiece is not: making a utilitarian object, quite the contrary; It consists in proving its know-how by producing a reduced thing without use. Here, the wheelbarrow, by its wheel, demonstrated the talent of its wheelwright-gardener, certain of the recognition of his peers in the mastery of his trade. Overcoming the difficulties (31 rays in five rows!) is enough for him; we miss his name but his work speaks for itself. With a diameter of 54 cm for a hub width of 37 cm, its 31 stripes (a few bites and weaknesses) are made of ash, equally spaced on a rim made of 5 pieces of oak with a screwed iron bandage of 3.4 cm wide. The whole is covered with a slightly peeling green paint.
