Extremely rare street scene: a Crimean Tatar selling coffee in the street of Gurzuf (Crimea). Gurzuf is a resort town in Crimea, Ukraine, on the northern coast of the Black Sea. Gurzuf is an ancient Crimean Tatar village, now part of Grand Yalta. It was made famous by Alexander Pushkin who visited the place in 1821. The famous ballet master Marius Petipa died here. The author of this painting - renowned Czech orientalist Frantisek Horejc (born 1885 in Praque). Student of the Academy of Fine Arts in Praque (196-1912) by Bukovac and Zenicek. After graduation he traveled and lived in Crimea, North Africa. He lived in Cairo for two years, where he was exhibited. After his return from the East, he worked for the Czech government as a decorator.
