Still life with watermelon by Ante Abramović (1903 - 1985).
Oil on canvas signed and dated 1960, lower left.
On the back of this canvas, a lively street study in front of a Church.
Wooden frame from the 60s, as is.
Small losses in the paint, scratches.
Beautiful presence for this still life.

Ante Abramović, born May 17, 1903 in Posavski Podgajci, Croatia, was a famous academic painter.
He began his artistic training in Zagreb, Croatia, under the tutelage of E.Tomašević and O.Postružnik.
Later he came to Belgrade, Serbia, where he completed his studies at the School of Arts in 1934 under the tutelage of Milan Milovanović.
He works as a teacher at the Belgrade School of Pedagogy.
His first group exhibitions date back to 1936 with the groups “Bojkotaši” (Boycott) and “Nezavisni” (Independent).
After World War II, he was exhibited in numerous independent and collective exhibitions (1940, 1952, 1956, 1957, 1961, 1976).
In addition to his art and his pedagogy, he works on book illustrations.
He has received numerous awards and recognitions over a long and productive career. He died in 1985 in Belgrade.
