"Medieval Ring With Carnelian Agate Intaglio Seal With Heraldic Engraving, Coat Of Arms & Crown Of Marquis"
Old ring, perhaps from medieval times, in silver (traces of gold) the ring's bezel set with a Carnelian agate etch engraved in intaglio à Seal with the heraldic motifs of a ciphered coat of arms, topped with a marquis crown. Ring size: 51.5 / Gross weight: 5.81 g
Beautiful testimony to the history of a family of the nobility of France that this ancient jewel bearing the seal of a character under the title of marquis. The carnelian intaglio is in very good condition, the setting of the stone, strewn with small grains, shows signs of wear on its periphery.
The shoulders of the frame are embellished with interweaving patterns of foliage foliage worked to day.
With regard to the type of the frame and the welds, this ring could be from medieval times; for information it comes from the estate of a castle in the Bordeaux region which dates from this period.
I would like to point out that the ring's bears traces of use, wear, small shocks and other imperfections.
Note that the tenth photo shows the intaglio with its "inverted" engraving such that its imprint appears in the wax.
I got it from an old lady, to whom it was offered, who came on this occasion to lend a hand during the removal of the furniture from the place.
