17th Century Germanic Country War Hammers. flag

Object description :

"17th Century Germanic Country War Hammers."
16th / 17th century war hammer in wrought iron from Germanic countries. Good general condition, length 50 cm. Armor being more and more effective against swords and other sharp weapons, many knights and soldiers armed themselves with a weapon hammer or war hammer, because nobler than the mace and more effective than the sword, he was the ideal weapon. The hammer is similar in its use to the mace and the scourge of arms. If the hammer did not injure the opponent, it could however distort the joints of the armor, thus preventing certain movements. The hammer of arms was used by the cavalry as well as the infantry.
