"Nineteenth Century Mahogany Barber, Louis Philippe Period, Turned Wood, Psyche And Leg In Motion"
Beautiful barber or barber furniture from the Louis Philippe period, XIXth Century. Nice model in mahogany wood; it rests on an eventful tripod base decorated with volutes and surmounted by a turned wood bole alternating with rings, knots and grooves; the lower part adorned with a button with carved oval patterns.
A cabinet opening with two leaves, intended to receive the shaving equipment, is inserted at two-thirds of the height of the bole.
Encased in a mahogany frame, the circular mirror (replaced by a modern one) is fixed by means of a bronze plate equipped with a notched disc and tightening wheel which allows its position to be adjusted. the height being done with a bronze tube sliding in the bole.
The object presents a beautiful state of patina; it is nevertheless to report an old restoration at the base of the bole, it seems that an accident is formerly damaged this part is detached a foot (see the last photo on this subject).
It should also be noted a noticeable halo on the top of the small cabinet and stains and / or dirt on the interior in lemon tree veneer.
