Important Aubusson tapestry from the XVII period after a cardboard by Isaac Moillon (1614-1673), painter to the king. The scene, inspired by Greek mythology, represents the return of Odysseus to Ithaca where he finds his wife, the faithful Penelope, and the dog Argos who immediately recognized his master after twenty years of absence. In the story of the Odyssey, Homer tells that Argos died of emotion after seeing Odysseus back from the Trojan War. The colors are fresh, the border is decorated with foliage, foliage and flowers.
