Maison Meynard:
The Maison Meynard was established at 50 faubourg Saint-Antoinee in 1812. Created by Guillaume Meynard, the house became famous under the name Meynard et Fils when in 1833, Guillaume-Mathieu, the eldest of Guillaume Meynard's children joined him. His father left his son to manage the family business alone from 1848.
Guillaume-Mathieu was joined by his son Léon-Guillaume in 1866. The company was then called Meynard et Fils. Under the same name, Léon Guillaume, representing the third generation, took over the management from 1873 until 1889 when he sold to Eugene Frager. After winning numerous awards at both the Industrial Product Exhibitions and the World's Fairs (Gold Medal in Paris in 1878), the furniture and decoration company perpetuated with Frager the excellence of the Maison Meynard by winning a silver medal at the World's Fair of 1889.
Maison Meynard will remain a magnificent witness of the history of French furniture.
