Object description :

"Kobako Japan Edo Period Decorated With Seaweed And Shells"
Lovely Japanese kobako (box with compartments for medications, ointments, incense etc ...). in Maki-e lacquer in various golden shades with aquatic decoration of seaweed and seashells.
the details are extremely fine, take a good look at the photos.
this kobako dates from the Edo period, the quality of the lacquer is superb.
it has three compartments with a decoration followed on the whole of the kobako and its cover.
the interior of each compartment is lacquered and in good condition with different gold powder lacquers. the bottom compartment is quite unusual because it is in lacquered metal, take a good look at the photos, close in order to deposit an ointment.
This kobako is in very good condition, a tiny scratch on the bottom compartment barely visible.
a very beautiful and rather unusual collector's item with its last metal compartment.
