"Papua, Yam Masquette, Abelam"
This type of mask was placed at the top of the yams during the great harvest ceremonies in the Abelam region in Papua. Made up of Lygodium liana fern fiber, the masks are then coated with natural pigments. The particularity of this one is that it consists of a very small mask (10x12 cm) attached to a "Naute" head-set which is tightly woven. It dates from the early / mid-20th century.
