"Louis XVI Clock"
Borne clock in Louis XVI style, in chiseled bronze and gilded with mercury in 2 tones, mat and shiny burnished with agate. The bollard is embellished on all 4 sides with rich very finely chiseled and gilded bronze fittings. The front and back are identical to the same decoration of foliage scrolls simulating flowers and oak leaves. The sides are also adorned identically with large antique vases from which escape foliage branches simulating oak leaves, held by a ribbon tied in the upper part. All of its ornamental fittings are mounted on lacquered bronze bases with a black background. (Slight crimps to the color) White enamelled dial with gilt fleur-de-lis indicating the hours in Roman numerals and the minutes in Arabic numerals, signed: Eugène Bellenot in Paris, Boulevard des Capucines. The dial supports at the top part an ornament representing a tied ribbon held by a central junction patch and ending in fringed tassels in trimmings. The bollard is surmounted in the amortization of a pyramidal terrace on which rests a torch and a quiver retaining garlands of falling flowers. The counter-base is decorated on all 4 sides with an entourage of falling lotus leaves, resting on a Carrara marble base decorated with branches adorned with vine leaves and grapes, treated in basement. Small ball feet decorated with an azure rim. Mechanism in good working order stamped: Japy frères. Large medal of honor Original gilding cleaned in excellent condition.
