Object description :

"Portrait Of Anne Of Austria In Widow's Dress - Oil On Canvas From The 17th Century"
Oil on canvas on period gilded frame, portrait of Anne of Austria in widow's dress.
Anna Maria Maurizia of Habsburg, better known as Anna of Austria (Valladolid, September 22, 1601 - Paris, January 20, 1666), was queen consort of France and Navarre as the wife of Louis XIII of France ( son of Henri IV the Great) and, after his death in 1643, regent for his son Louis XIV until 1651. With Giulio Mazzarino, his education instilled in his son the principles of absolute monarchy.

The painting in question finds broad stylistic analogies with the portrait (uncommon in his repertoire, because he preferred biblical scenes) of Guillame Courtois, a French painter known in Italy as Guglielmo Cortese dit le Bourguignon - He was born in Saint-Hippolyte in Burgundy in 1628 and died in 1679 Rome - moved with his brothers to Italy to work and settled permanently.

The measurements of the painting are: 5cm1 x 60cm with frame 60cm x76cm
