Edmond BASSOMPIERRE SEWRIN (1809-1896) Girl and her mother looking at each other in Neapolitan costume from the mid-19th century. The mother gently surrounds her daughter with her right arm, who is holding a small bouquet of flowers to let her inhale their perfume. Pastel on paper, period gilded frame, all in good condition, little friction on the mother's cheek. Signed lower right Dim. Frame 91 x 75 cm, frame 81 x 66 cm Edmond Sewrin is a French painter, pastellist and lithographer, born November 1, 1809 in Paris and died in 1896 in the same city at the age of 87 years. A pupil of Hersent and Destouches, he entered the École des Beaux-Arts on April 3, 1830. He exhibited at the Salon from 1832 to 1875, mainly portraits in oil or pastel and obtained a third class medal in 1846. He regularly receives orders from the state for religious works or copies from 1831; churches of Caylus, Lorient, Landerneau, Briec. We also owe him numerous lithographs, including a series on Bagnières de Bigorre.
