Post-impressionist painter of landscapes, harbor views, flowers and portraits. Also etcher and lithographer. Enrolled in 1894 with J. Quinaux, a family friend, after leaving the Military School. Is a student in architecture and painting at the Academy of Brussels, despite paternal opposition. Restore paintings for a living. Married a musician. Settles in Paris and works in Barbizon. Returns to Belgium and travels a lot in Germany, England, but especially in France, especially in Brittany, where he will return often. Represents in our country the Coast, the banks of the Scheldt and the industrial region of Borinage. Meets Maurice Blieck in 1906, who influences him considerably. Confronts many problems due to the long illness of his wife. Find consolation and support from Yvonne Vonnot-Viollet, musician and painter. Retrospective in 1958 and 1961. Works acquired by the Royal family and by the State and at the Museums of Schaerbeek, Thames and Mulhouse.
