Carlo Leone Gallo, known by all as "Leonin", was born in Cairo Montenotte on February 20, 1875.
He attended the Albertina Academy of Turin, where from Professors Giacomo Grosso and Celestino Gilardi, he learned the secrets of the pictorial technique, refined and strengthened his talent as an artist, so much so that he became one of the most significant figures in the Bormida Valley.
He exhibited his works by him at the Turin Quadrennial, at the Brera exhibition in Milan, in Genoa, in Florence.
His paintings can be found in the most important galleries in the United States, Australia, France, Germany, and in numerous Italian and foreign private collections.
In addition to the highly realistic portraits, his most expressive works are the views and landscapes of Cairo and the Bormida Valley which he loved to travel far and wide with his easel on his shoulder. Like all great artists he lived modestly, humbly and silently died in his native country on January 13, 1959, leaving a great artistic and moral heritage.

The painting is in good condition.
