Bordeaux Mahogany Wardrobe, Cuba Mahogany, 18th Century flag

Object description :

"Bordeaux Mahogany Wardrobe, Cuba Mahogany, 18th Century"

An emblematic piece of furniture in the Bordeaux region under the reign of Louis XV, the mahogany cabinet was a ceremonial piece of furniture, expensive because it was made of exotic wood, and particularly suitable as a wedding gift. Ours, all in molded mahogany and in very good condition, respects the main characteristics of this high-end furniture: «chapeau de gendarme» top, bolt («cremone») with ornate ironwork and, above all, elegant interior shelves with a slightly turbulent line. This was especially made to exhibit Chinese porcelain, silverware and other rare or luxurious pieces. In the lower part, a storage with two lockable doors.
