19th century, Pair of French Four-Light Gilt Bronze

The pair of wall lamps with four lights was made of gilded bronze and finely chiselled. It was performed in France in the 19th century, inspired by the famous models of the engraver of King Jacques CAFFIERI (1678-1755), the most famous artist of bronze of the Louis XV period and of the Rocaille taste.Caffieri’s works stand out for their audacity, exuberance and high quality of realization.
These wall lamps are therefore in Louis XV style;the bronze is chiselled with rocaille motifs with volute decorations and phytomorphic and foliated motifs. The arms are asymmetrical compared to the central body, giving movement to the whole. The two wall lamps are mirror to each other, making them harmonious when exposed side by side. However, they can also be used individually, as they are very decorative and bright thanks to the gilding of bronze. They are also suitable for any environment and next to modern or antique furnishings.
In good state of maintenance, the electric system is to be revised.
