Apothecary's Tripod Bronze Crucible, Late 18th Century, Besançon flag

Object description :

"Apothecary's Tripod Bronze Crucible, Late 18th Century, Besançon"
Beautiful tripod crucible with an ebony handle turned of a beautiful baluster, a pretty small apothecary cauldron, (24).
It is a very neat airain cast, attributable to: Roy, dynasty of bell founders in Besançon, see a larger crucible, signed, that I sold some time ago: last photo.
This pan was used for the preparation of medicines or drugs, "cooked" at high temperatures. Round and flat crucible, resting on high feet started by simulated cords, the molding has been very neat, see the 6 arrows under the handle, the central umbilicus with the polished pontil, size mark: 24 ... Pharmacist placed the preparation more or less high on the embers .....
Dimensions: 9.5cm H, 13cm diameter. Length 27cm.
Good condition, no flaws, except a small lack on pommel of the ebony handle.
