Beautiful work of the Marseille painter François Gautier which represents an animated view of the quays and the port in Evian-les-Bains. The artist's palette remains as colorful as his works representing the shores of the Mediterranean. A pupil of Johanny Rave at the Marseille school, he worked alongside painters Emile Loubon, Jean-Baptiste Olive and Adolphe Monticelli during this period. He exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1866 to 1870 marines. After the war, he led a discreet life and devoted himself entirely to painting. His work consists mainly of seascapes.

Note: A slight deformation of the canvas is to be noted in the lower right corner
