Object description :

"Mustache Commode Early 18th Century"
Spectacular chest of drawers known as "A Mustaches" with curved front and sides, in rosewood veneer inlaid with curls in the frames. It opens on the front with 4 drawers in three rows, highlighted by ingot molds. The uprights are curved and arched and support a large red-brown marble from Flanders. Period 1st part of the 18th century, Regency / Louis XV. It has a superb garniture of chiseled and gilded bronzes, "drooping" with rosettes, with locks with mascarons, feet with foliage and Spanish slips on the uprights. The two sides are decorated with two bronzes with the effigies of sphinxes and Greek goddesses, and the drawers are in burl walnut, the whole of this piece is completely original. The finish and quality of this chest of drawers, as well as its bronze fittings, are similar to the work of Mathieu Criaerd and allow us to attribute it to. Traces of stamps.
