Elegant and iconic 1950-60 Floor Lamp by Rispal in free-form carved wood with an organic and sculptural design depicting a tripod base with fluid and slender curves extending by a suspended light arm presenting a white lampshade. Good general condition, dimensions: H 165 x width 48 x depth 45 cm Designed and created in 1950 by the famous lighting company "Rispal" created rue de Charonne in Paris in 1924. Listed N ° 14.950 this famous light was named the "praying mantis" because of its resemblance to the insect. This luminaire is a timeless design, it is as emblematic as it is representative of the golden age of French design. Exhibited for the first time in 1952 in Paris, during the 36th Salon des Artistes décorateurs. Various productions at the start of the 1950s, inspired by Scandinavian design, presented in images in the “Formes nouvelles” catalog, designed to present different combinable pieces: wooden bases, lampshades… Creations that have become icons of French lighting of the 20th century, with biomorphic shapes like this “Praying Mantis”. Models now popular with collectors.
