Felix THOMAS, born September 29, 1815 in Nantes and died in the same city on April 5, 1875, is a French architect, painter, engraver and sculptor. After studying in Nantes, he was admitted to the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He obtained the first prize of Rome in architecture on a cathedral project in 1845 and lived at the Académie de France from 1846 to 1850. Between 1851 and 1854 he participated in the scientific and artistic expedition to Mesopotamia and Media. A great traveler, he travels through Italy, Greece and Turkey. On his return to France, he became a pupil of Charles Gleyre and devoted himself to painting. He then produced a set of orientalist works inspired by his travels. He exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in Architecture during the Universal Exhibition in 1855, 1859 and 1865, but also in the painting category from 1864 to 1867.
