Large vase with lustrous decoration of the figure of Venus emerging from the water on a seashell holding a tablecloth topped with a Cupid. Signed Federico Quatrini 1957 Dimensions: height cm. 92 cm in diameter. 28 Biography: Federico Quatrini, born in Milan on September 21, 1916, immediately after the war, after his first Milanese pictorial experiences and the first exhibition of paintings and drawings held in Venice in 1939, in the years of the second post-war period, he arrives in Albisola and he approaches the ceramic material, which will lead him to sculpture, firing his works of clay in the furnaces of Pozzo Garitta, property of Bianco d'Albisola. In 1949, he made his debut as a ceramist by presenting some of his works, unique pieces, in a solo exhibition in Albissola and at the Galleria Cairola in Milan. In 1952 he participated in the National Ceramics Competition in Messina, in 1954 in the Master Ceramics Exhibition at the San Fedele Gallery in Milan and in 1956 in the International Ceramics Competition in Faenza. Driven by a deep religious faith, he produced numerous works of a religious nature, including the large Via Crucis intended for the chapel of the Episcopal Complex of Vigevano and exhibited in 1957 at the Cairola Gallery in Milan. In the fifties, he also attended the albisolese laboratories of the "Ce.As." property of Pietro Rosso, Pietro Mantero and Angelo Platino, the furnace of Jolanda Schiavi, that of "Pozzo Garitta" and La Fenice. In 1960, he presented a bronze statue at the Citta di Forlì Prize and since the same year he was present at all the editions of the Albissola Ceramics Festival where, in 1961, he received a gold medal. In 1962, he participated in the Biennial of Sacred Art Vigevano and in the International Exhibition of Monza. In 1963 he was invited by the municipality of Albissola Marina to participate, together with other important potters, in the realization of the Lungomare degli Artisti. In the early 1960s, he produced interesting monotypes of artistic ceramics in the Milan workshops of Vincenzo Bortolotti. In 1964, a personal exhibition was dedicated to him at the San Fedele gallery in Milan. In the same years, he created for the parish church of Albissola Marina, a bas-relief in monochrome white representing the Via Crucis and collaborated with "San Giorgio" Albisolo by Eliseo Salino. In the 80s he was invited to create ceramic works at the factory of Albisolo "Fabbrica Casa Museo Giuseppe Mazzotti 1903" Federico Quatrini died in Savona in 1991.
