Emilio Vilà awarded at the General Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona at the age of 18; he moved with his family around 1906 in France. Beginning to work around 1909 as an illustrator for a newspaper in Champagne. Moving to Paris around 1910, he will subsequently be known as a painter and poster artist for the biggest cinema production houses such as Pathé, Gaumont, Fox ... it is on this occasion that he meets the stars of the time including Gabin, Fernandel and Hollywood stars like June Caprice or Mary Pickford. From 1936, he returned to his native village of Llagostera on the Costa Brava. At the end of the war, the economy restarting, he bought his childhood home which would become his workshop and future museum.

June Caprice was a Hollywood actress of the years 1910 - 1920. She was the wife of Harry F Millarde, pioneer of silent cinema. The portrait suggests that it is a project for a film poster broadcast in France after the war of 14/18.
