"Yomoud Turkmen Rug, 208 Cm X 285 Cm, Wool On Hand-knotted Wool, Circa 1970"
Hand-knotted wool carpet from the nomadic and semi-nomadic tribe of the Turkmen Yomoud (Ensi) from Turkestan and Uzbekistan, regions occupied by these populations. This 20th century rug circa 1970 is in very good condition and clean. The colors, of natural origin are typical of Yomouds, orange, black, white, purple and raspberry. The geometric decoration is composed of a half of a red and blood cross, resembling large stylized flowers posed regularly around triangles and geometric tribal shapes. The whole design as well as the colors used present a modernity and spontaneity, specific to this type of carpet and to all the carpets of the various Turkmen tribes. These thick rugs are very comfortable thanks to the density of the wool and its softness, their beauty is renowned throughout Central Asia.
