Thomas-François CARTIER 1879/1943
Thomas Cartier is a French sculptor, born in Marseille on February 21, 1879, died in 1943. Pupil of Georges Gardet, he exhibited animals at the Salon des Artistes Français, at the Salon d'Automne, and at the Salon Decorative Arts from 1904 and 1907; gold medal at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1922 for a sculpture of a she-wolf called "The alert".
In 1927 gold medal at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs; in 1931, he participated in the Colonial Exhibition. He is considered a major artist from the beginning of the 20th century in his specialty: animal sculpture. He works with materials such as Bronze, but also plaster, sandstone and terracotta.
