Elegant, neoclassical early Biedermeier Secretaire from South Germany around 1820.

Beautiful classicist design with gable cornice, greatly restored and of very fine quality. Friendly and bright cherry veneer on hard and softwood (oak, maple, spruce or other softwood). Almost always book-matched veneered and several ebonized parts like the lisenes and top. Excellent restored condition with shellac hand polish (French polish). Original brass fittings. 1 original old key and iron locks.
Inside with numerous drawers and secret compartments (see images), mostly veneered in cherry wood.
At the bottom the secretaire has 2 doors and an open space behind with an shelfboard and long massive iron lock.
Fold down writing plate in cherry wood with ebonized decorative trims. A support column for more stability under the writing surface was made later and is included with the secretary
