Object description :

"Pair Of Louis XIV Plated Candlesticks"
Nice pair of engraved gilt bronze candlestick, XIX period.

The Directoire style was born at the time of the fall of the Monarchy and disappeared with the advent of the Empire. It therefore includes the Revolutionary period (1789-1792), of La Convention (1792-1795), of the Directory (1795-1799) and of the Consulate (1799-1804) of Napoleon Bonaparte.

It is therefore in a very troubled period that this style was shaped, both simple and varied in its patterns. The shapes are simplified, combining discreet curves and straight lines, announcing the Empire style without being heavy.

These characteristics perfectly demonstrate the allure of our candlesticks.
