"Romain Steppe, Boat At Sunset (# Anvers Scheldt)"
Romain Steppe (Antwerp, 1859 - 1927): Belgian painter of landscapes and seascapes. He had for professor Boland, then Isidor Meyers. He mainly painted views of the port and boats on the banks of the Scheldt and the North Sea. The aesthetic of Steppe's works is marked by Realism, sometimes evoking Guillaume Vogels, and Impressionism. Friend of the poet and critic Emile Verhaeren, Romain Steppe will stay regularly in Sint-Amands. He will exhibit especially in Antwerp from 1888 and he will be a member of Als Ik Kan.

Oil on canvas, 40 x 60 cm, in a frame measuring 45 x 65 cm, signed lower left and titled on the cartel (À l'Approche de l'orage).
