Alfred Emile Leopold Stevens (Belgian painter) grew up surrounded by art. His father Léopold was an art collector, who owned paintings by Delacroix and Géricault. The Stevens brothers also found themselves in the art world, Joseph as well as Alfred as a painter and Arthur as an art dealer. Stevens' work can be found in dozens of major museums around the world, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Hamburger Kunsthalle, the National Gallery in London , the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Louvre in Paris and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
