Good edition of this classic in the history of art. The German author is one of the founders of the history of art, he is at the same time antiquarian, archaeologist and art historian. He is fortunate to live in the century when the wealth of heritage begins to circulate throughout Europe, but instead of making this passion the testimony of a rich collector, he has the intuition to work on his discoveries like an archaeologist. He died assassinated in Trieste in 1768 (a priori a heinous crime).
