Large Decorative Dish From The Art Nouveau Period flag

"Large Decorative Dish From The Art Nouveau Period"
Nice size for this circular presentation dish with polychrome decoration representing a martin among water hyacinths. Very light relief enamelling technique for designs with hollow outlines on a crackled background. Beautiful shades of mauve associated with the different greens of plants which highlight the bird with darker colors, mainly blue; the whole is made on a very finely cracked background in shades of beige and pale blue. This large dish has on the back a hollow stamp indicating the origin of the factory as well as four original holes in the thickness of its base for a possible hanging. The main stamp comes from the Doulton factory in Burslem and corresponds to the period 1882-1901. During this period, the single Doulton Burslem England stamp with four interlocking "D's" was common on Royal Doulton coins. The word "England" which sometimes appears was not added until 1891. some other stamps have a royal crown added above the initial logo to mark the meeting between the company and the Prince of Wales. The logo with the royal crown was used especially on soft porcelain and expensive earthenware. These two logos were in use until 1901. Two other intaglio stamps that I cannot decipher, certainly indicate the model number and possibly the name of the artist who created this design. Sir Henry Doulton (July 25, 1820 - November 18, 1897) was an English entrepreneur, inventor and maker of pottery. He participated in the development of the Royal Doulton family business. He notably invented the ceramic filter in 1827 which was used to fight and eradicate an epidemic of cholera and typhoid. In 1882 the business moved north to focus on making fine china tableware and decorative items, so Royal Doulton moved to Staffordshire to be part of the Pottery Revolution. Royal Doulton Pottery has since been based in the heart of The Potteries, with a factory in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. It was in 1901 that Royal Doulton officially became “royal”, as he was given a royal warrant and permission to use “royal” in the name. Their exquisite and handcrafted pottery pieces have decorated homes for centuries. Note: the decoration of this dish is very characteristic of the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century; this movement called "Modern Style" in England or "Art Nouveau" in France brings inventiveness, the presence of rhythms, colors, ornamentations inspired by trees, flowers, insects, animals, thus introducing sensitivity into the daily decor .
