In 1968 Richard was awarded the International Grand Prix for Painting. He is a self-taught artist with a very personal style, a painting of light and shadow which are often juxtaposed blonde and brown to create an atmosphere of mystery. The "naked" Richards are no shock to the eye, which retains only refinement and elegance. He was a prolific painter who created oil paintings of gypsy dances and musical scenes, market, portraits of women with hats, nudes and p still life paintings in bright colors.
